After nearly 7 years in service, today the bayesvl R package reaches a new milestone of 30,042 downloads from The Comprehensive R Archive Network (CRAN [1]), shown in Fig. 1.

Steady increases in monthly downloads tell us that in a world full of uncertainty, a useful workhorse still does its job, i.e., plowing the field. One of the spectacular jobs has also just been finished; that is, a highly philosophical paper titled “Uncertainty versus Absurdity” [2] by Dr. MH Nguyen, a co-founder of this portal.

As a Ph.D. candidate struggling to learn and think about the economic research career, I have identified at least one powerful proposition from this new flying-solo manuscript as follows. The uncertainty-absurdity nexus can be omnipresent and presented in a reliable algorithmic fashion, without sacrificing its generality. The thesis presented by Dr. Nguyen has opened my eyes while working in a research field full of uncertain events and absurd decisions, oftentimes praised as “smart and wise”.

My sporadic discussions with the author of Wild Wise Weird, who happens to be a veteran in Vietnam stock market investing, have also led to my own view that in today’s upheavals, this very transformation of uncertainty-absurdity has characterized our world. And the global economy has somehow resembled the Bird Village.

This view clearly resonates with the main proposition of the above-mentioned paper, one that has been delivered sharply and convincingly thanks to the bayesvl BMF workhorse.

Yes, the horse does plow the field, in a world of uncertainty and absurdity.
